The experts, like Bobbi Brown and Charlie Green, passed out tips and tricks at the fall ’08 New York fashion shows. When the connoisseurs of beauty speak, we listen. Here’s what they had to say about what colors and techniques they used to make the models look runway perfect. You’ll be happy to know that, while it takes skills to do it like they do, their approach is simple and you too can master the makeup that creates sultry eyes, radiant cheeks and full lips.

#1 For sultry eyes that speak your mind while you keep them guessing just what you’re up to, apply a dark gray shadow close to the lash line. As you work back along the lid and from the crease up, soften your color and blend lighter shades of gray and silver and even burnt taupe. This keeps eyes from looking solid, gothic black. It adds dimension and eases under eye circles that are accentuated with dark colors.

#2 Here’s a tip everyone who uses liquid liner will appreciate. If you want a cat-eye look or just need a thicker line along your lids, begin with the skinniest line of eyeliner you can achieve and build your liner in layers. Add one line on top of the next. Take a step back from the mirror with each line and get a good look at just where it is you need more depth. This tip is worth a million if you’re a liquid liner user.

#3 The love of nail color is back and the color everyone loves most is brown. You’ll see beautiful shades in matte and shimmer, from light to dark (but mostly dark.) Brown nail color is bolding up fashion this fall and it looks amazing. Backstage touchup tip: If you chip your nail color, swipe a cotton ball with nail polish remover over the entire nail to minimize the depth of the chip. Then sweep one thick coat of the nail color over the entire nail.

#4 For pure sparkle and quick impact, especially in the evening, apply a thin line of liquid liner in shimmering gold as close to the lash line as you can get it. This tip freshens up models eyes and is a quick way to create effect – like when you’re late for a blind date.

#5 Anytime you need a little pick-me-up for your face, have a pink lip crayon on hand. Bright, rosy pink worked on over 40 models with different skin tones at one show.  

#6 Another hot, pink idea – mix and match eye and cheek color. The unified colors add pop to your skin, freshness to your look and are way too easy to apply. You need one product and one brush and your skin color is done. A blush brush applies a perfect amount to both cheeks and eyes.

#7 Still holding on for fall are coral lips. This color will transition with you as your tan fades and will keep your face looking bright. It’s a year round investment.

#8 For a presto change-o from the office to your date, use glitter to take day makeup to evening makeup. All you need to do is dip a brush into glitter and apply directly over your liner for extra holing power. According to the powers that be, this is a favorite quick change that works every time.
