Applying False Eyelashes

Applying False EyelashesAs busy women, we are always happy to find a quick and easy way to improve our look and speed-up our morning beauty routine. False eyelashes may be just the addition we’ve been waiting for. Our eyes tell the story – tired, over-worked, wide awake, happy, sad, sick… you can’t hide those lying eyes. But we sure do try! And how do we do it? We use brighter whites as contour and highlighter along the brow line to draw attention away from dark circle and droopy under-eye bags, we go easy on the liner; but then we pick up the mascara – can’t go without it – and most often all our efforts to hide and disguise are brought low. Even on our best make-up days, mascara can overpower even perfectly applied lighter shades and take dark shades from sexy to gothic. This happens because mascara goes on last and we often forget, or can’t anticipate, how the dark border mascara creates will affect our eye make-up. But go without it and you’re left with an unfinished look and eyelids that seem heavy. The solution? Go fake!

False or fake eyelashes help define your lashline without mascara and, in most cases, without liner on the upper lid. They give your eyes the pop you’re looking for when you apply mascara with a controlled level of color. This means that you don’t need to increase the intensity of your mascara (therefore increasing the appearance of dark circles and bloodshot whites) in order to achieve the wide-open look a few extra strokes of the wand provide. False eyelashes also plump your lashes without using an abundance of product that often results in clumps and smears. You can purchase fine of thick false lashes and get just the look you want without multiple applications of color.

Think you might shed a few glistening tears at your wedding? No problem. As long as you’re not scrubbing your lids, false lashes don’t smudge or smear and stay put until you remove them. And removal is normally a breeze.

So now that you’re convinced, don’t skimp on your lashes. Get a good pair at a beauty supply store and pass on the supermarket specials. Also choose a high-end glue and be sure to do a skin test for any allergies or eye sensitivity before leaving on that big date.

To Properly Apply:

·    Trim the lash strip to fit the width of your eyelid. A mustache or cuticle scissor will do the trick.

·    Use a rubber lined eyelash curler to curl your natural lashes

·    Apply a thin line of lash glue along the false lashes. Let it dry until it becomes sticky.

·    Application is easiest if you’re looking down, so get close to the mirror and place the lashes directly across your natural lash line on the eyelid side of your lashes.

·    Finish with a light coat of mascara to blend your natural lashes and the false lashes. Clear mascara works well if you don’t want to add color.

·    Be patient and leave enough time to work slowly at first as perfect application may take a time or two to achieve.

·    Follow the directions on your glue for removal.
