Hairdryer Disadvantages

Hairdryer DisadvantagesYou know your hair well - but some days it’s got a mind and will of its own.

Hair-drying saves time, dries effectively and new product lines are being introduced all the time to allow hair-drying to have the maximum effects possible for great looking hair. Now let’s explore the downside to the blow dryer.

Many don’t realize how hot these appliances can get. Letting them rum for a full minute on high heat, as they can burn and/or singe the hair follicle and delicate hair shaft. Damage done to the hair usually results in split-ends, fried-looking hair or the dreaded “F” word: FRIZZIES for curly tops. And, when set too high, it has caused serious burns to the head and face.

If set too low, the blowing air won’t dry the locks fast enough if you’re pressed for time. Also, the cost of shampoos needed to repair and rebuild damaged hair could equal that to today’s electricity bill costs it takes to run that dryer on a daily basis.

Hair dryer power cords can snag, tangle or dislodge inside wiring from the mechanism if the cord is wound around the dryer’s nozzle. Not many parents are also mindful that, if left plugged in, a small child could wander in the bathroom and flip the start switch, getting a nasty burn for its efforts, too. Many dryers are now coming with a removable power cord from the actual appliance itself.

If run at high heat and for a prolonged use, the whir of the dryer motor air can equal that of the growing whine of 747 jet engines, decibels wise - and this can take a toll on the inner ear.

The dryer can and does scare small children into drying their hair in this manner. Extended use also strips the hair of natural oils, shine and color. Consumers still looking to use dryers can aggravate sensitive scalp conditions they may or may not be aware of.

It’s been suggested the dryer should be used in the bedroom, since they can be dropped in the toilet, tub or other body of water in the bathroom. Also, some dryers are like vacuum cleaner attachments: You can’t ever find the anti-frizz brush for your curly locks to tame that curl, so the next best thing becomes available: that brush attachment that instantly snags your hair.

Some people have been known to dry paint walls with handheld hair dryers - thus offsetting the hot air trajectory from the unit. And salon hair dryers aren’t better: You can’t hear the juicy gossip!

Some of the professional dryers don’t dry evenly or in some places at all.

When your arms get tired, your sweetie won’t hold the dryer for you at 6:30am.

Overdrying of the tresses can and does occur. Hair does lose it’s ‘do in the permanent style set for the day. Incidentally, your hair was meant to naturally air dry and/or toweled dry gently. 411: The roar of the machine scares your cat and makes your dog spit and snarl at you every time you switch that on.
