Wait a Minute – Shouldn’t that be Lights, Camera, Action?
You don’t have to have a modern, spa-like bathroom with the couch and yards of counter space to emerge looking liking a

Give vanity lighting top consideration. Ideally, you should have at least a total of 150 watts of lighting to diffuse an even wash of light over the head and neck area. For grooming and makeup, you’ll want light that does not cast shadows and illuminates the entire face.

Place lights on either side of the bathroom vanity mirror. Lights should be at eye level, approximately

Avoid recessed lighting above the mirror. Canned lighting will direct shadows over your face making it difficult to apply make-up.

Use a light bulb that will not cast a hue over the skin. White light bulbs give an accurate skin tone.

Add a dimmer switch to your bathroom lights. When you are giving yourself a home spa treatment, the softer light will be more restful and relaxing.
Sometimes making minor changes, such as replacing a bulb for more wattage, adding a dimmer switch, or removing those “cute, little light shades” can make the different between an illuminated face and one that is in the shadows. When you are applying your makeup, you want to be able to see what you are working with.
You have the makeup and now you have the proper light. All set? You’re ready for action!
