Pro Makeup Tools vs. Drugstore Makeup Tools

Which Ones Are Worth the Money?

Pro Makeup Tools vs. Drugstore Makeup ToolsMakeup - next to diamonds and chocolate - are definitely a girl’s best friend. Whether you wear makeup on a regular basis or only on special occasions, it goes without saying that any makeup lover should have her own arsenal of items and tools. However, if you have ever been shopping for makeup tools in particular, you’ve probably noticed a huge price difference between drugstore makeup tools and professional grade makeup tools. So which ones are worth your hard earned dollars and which ones can you save a little money on?

Most women that purchase professional makeup tools believe that the high price tag is equal to quality and the only way to guarantee the best results. In some cases this is true but not in all cases. You may be surprised to know that not all of the makeup tools in your personal collection need to be top quality and break your bank account. But at the same time you don’t want to load your makeup bag with “cheap” tools either. So what’s a girl to do? The first step is to evaluate your makeup style and needs. Do you cringe at the thought of stepping outside of your house without any makeup on? Do you like to keep things simple and on the more natural side or do you require a full blown palette? Your makeup routine will determine what kind of tools you need.

At your next trip to the drugstore, you’ll want to pick up a set of eyelash curlers. That’s right, you don’t need to invest a small fortune on professional, top of the line eyelash curlers. You can find this makeup tool at the drugstore for anywhere from $5 to $10. Professional grade eyelash curlers can run as high as $20 but in all honesty, as long as the curlers effectively curl your lashes without damaging them, there is no point in spending extra dollars for a “brand name” curler. Make sure the drugstore version has a special pad/cushion so that your lashes are curled safely without the risk of them being ripped off.

Tweezers are another makeup tool that you can purchase at the drugstore, although you’ll more than likely want to avoid the super cheap ones that are less than $5. A decent pair of tweezers can cost from $7 to $15. It is important that the tweezers are made of stainless steel and have a comfortable grip that won’t make plucking/tweezing feel like a chore.

One place where you’ll want to invest some of your hard earned bucks is on makeup brushes. If you have ever purchased makeup brushes at the drugstore, you may have experienced less than stellar application results and even had brushes shed all over your face. Make the effort and purchase professional quality makeup brushes that will last the test of time and give you professional looking results with each application.
