Many times the best way to wake up great is to take the proper steps before going to bed. This primarily includes washing your face before going to sleep. You’d be surprised how your complexion responds in the wee hours of the morning when it’s been thoroughly cleansed the night before, compared to when you skip out on nighttime washing. The best way to make sure you wash your face each night is to do it before you get too tired to do so. How many times have you gone to bed lacking enough energy to wash your face? Making this a habit can have a negative impact on your morning routine by allowing the accumulated toxins, dirt, and oils to sit on your face throughout the night. When you cleanse nightly, your skin’s blood flow is improved, making it easier to absorb the formulas and ingredients of your skincare products in the morning.
Another smart step to take each night to improve your mornings includes watching what you eat. Did you know that eating foods that are high in carbohydrates can result in your complexion becoming soft and dough-like? It’s true. To avoid this side effect of dinner, opt for foods that are rich in protein and low in sugar. Asparagus and salmon are two ideal food items. You’ll also want to avoid eating pasta, rice, and/or potatoes before bed. If this can’t be avoided, at least minimize your portions and how often you eat these particular foods before bedtime.
The way you sleep can also make or break how you feel when you wake up in the morning. For the best results, sleep with your head slightly elevated on two pillows. Sleeping in this manner keeps the blood and lymph flow going so that these fluids don’t accumulate. This prevents bloating and puffiness in the morning. Also make it a habit to sleep on your back instead of your stomach. The pressure of the weight of the human head, paired with smashing your face into a pillow over a period of time can result in premature wrinkles. Nighttime skincare treatments are also ideal for prepping your skin and making you feel better when you get out of bed. Rich nighttime formulas are best for quality results and you’ll only need a drop in order to get the job done.
Do you need to get a head start on your summer glow? You can begin working on your faux tan by adding a drop of your favorite self tanner into your nighttime moisturizer or purchase a moisturizer that contains DHA (the ingredient responsible for faux tans).
