Let’s start from the top down. Hair styling products are not heavy this season. They’re lightweight and flexible and let go virtually the moment hair gets wet so that you don’t come out of the water looking like someone glued your hair to your head. The closer you can get to looking like you brushed your hair and either pulled it back into a loose clip or pony or let it flow, the better. Think free spirited this season as you style your hair. Even late night is looking much more relaxed this year.
Forget the deep tan if you want to look like you’re in the know this summer. Healthy glow is all you’re looking for and you can achieve this with illuminating powders. They give you a subtle glow without the heaviness of bronzers or fake tans. Look for varying shades of pink if you have a lighter complexion or browns and beiges if you have medium or olive to dark skin tone.
Want to blend in with the faces of summer? Want to stand out? Either way, safari colors are making their mark on eye and cheek color. The safari palate includes pale pinks or creams, apricots, shades of peach, burnt oranges and browns that go from subtle and barely there to intense. The thing to remember is to choose your accent area and then make everything else on your face bow down to that one feature. Long gone are the days when eyes and lips vied for the spotlight.
If your lips are what turn heads, you want to try lip gloss with flakes of gold. In every color imaginable, these glosses – applied lightly for come kiss me lips or turned-up for check me out high shine – are your lip’s ticket to hot this summer! And guess what guys! Flavored lip gloss is back. That’s right. The old favorites are not just in drug stores, they’re even showing up in high end gloss. Yum!
If your focus feature is your lips, grab a tube of turquoise mascara. Layer it over your black mascara for a trendy look that isn’t too bright. It adds a fun flair to subtle eyes and compliments the laid back expression of the season.
