Big Do’s and Don’ts of Fall Fashion

Big Do’s and Don’ts of Fall FashionFashion is a fluid, ever-changing organism that doesn’t hold still long enough for you to get to the store and buy the latest let alone enjoy it long enough to wear it out. And who can keep track of what’s in and what’s just become so last season? To help you make the most of the season, here’s a heads-up on the biggest do’s and don’ts of fall. If you’re quick you’ll get to the store just in time!

Do wear texture and lots of it. The jackets that are coming out for fall are an amazing blend of fabrics and textures and layering. A well-chosen jacket can transform any number of outfits because of its versatility. Think about going way outside the box with knotted wool sweaters, chunky cotton cardigans and even leggings that resemble tweed and silk. Don’t shy away form the beaded tank top or the cardigan that was tied together in knots. It’s fun and original.

Don’t be afraid of color. This fall is jam packed with vibrant shades of every color you can imagine. From jewel tones to dessert colors, there is no stopping the brightness that rivals the changing leaves.

Do wear lots of patterns – mix some of them up for a fun Bohemian look. This season mismatched is the new matched, so have more fun than you ever did creating wild outfits and expressing yourself.

Do use accessories to liven up any dull outfit or to take any great outfit to the next level. Layering lots of beaded necklaces is one of the hottest trends going. Layer them long and pile them high around your neck. They look great with any style top and take your little black dress to a whole new place. Accessorizing with multiples of bangle bracelets is also another great way to embrace the do’s of fall. Pile them high up your arm and select different colors, shapes and finishes.

Don’t get stuck in a retro rut and wind up wearing a totally 80’s or 90’s outfit in an effort to master a throwback look. Retro wear is stunning and edgy but it needs to be put together with style. A few select pieces combined with a modern twist – like textured jackets or beaded necklaces in modern colors like burnt sienna or dazzling yellow – make a stylish and re-wearable outfit.

Don’t pair a flowy top with baggy pants. The results are an extra 10 to 20 pounds packed onto your reflection. Instead opt for one to be baggy and one to be form-fitting.

If you follow these simple rules for fall fashion, you’ll be able to update your wardrobe just in time to enjoy the changing leaves, the cooling temperatures and all the best that this season has to offer. Fall is always a time of beautiful clothing and accessories, this year is no exception=n
