Celebrity health secrets drive the media business and help influence the general masses as to what new trend or discovery can contribute to a better lifestyle and overall well being, but in the quest for such knowledge some celebrities have chosen certain treatments that could do more harm than good, or worse- nothing at all. That isn’t to say that some of them don’t garner any results but when analyzed by health professionals in the industry, it makes you wonder where they come up with these ideas?
One of the most bizarre celebrity health secrets was released by Demi Moore, who publicly stated that she uses leeches to detoxify her blood. The practice of using leeches in medical cases goes back a long way but does it really have a place in today’s society in providing us with a better, healthier, detoxified body? According to medical experts, Demi’s theory that the leeches help her look fabulous is nothing but hype. Leeches themselves do not do anything outstanding for the body, nor does it provide any health benefits. Leeches suck out the blood purely for survival purposes and don’t actually detoxify the blood - or anything in the body for that matter. Although Demi credits the suckers for her outstanding figure, the truth of the matter is that the A-list actress sticks to a strict regimen of healthy foods and a lot of daily exercise. The leeches don’t contribute to her health success at all.
When it comes to controlling the appetite, stars like Jennifer Lopez have been reported to carry around a vial of essential oils, and with one sniff, their cravings for food are successfully suppressed. The powers of essential oils are well known, but are they strong enough to curb hunger pangs? Medical experts say not really. So far studies have not shown any conclusive evidence that sniffing essential oils can successfully suppress the appetite, leading to significant weight loss.
One of the latest health secrets celebrities have shared with their adoring public is the idea of using a liquid diet to effectively cleanse their body of waste and toxins, which also include a colon cleanse. There are many followers of this trend and while it can have some results on the body in the detoxification process, medical experts warn that the best way to detox the body is by drinking plenty of water daily and eating right. They also point out that colon cleanses have shown no hard core evidence to support the belief that they provide huge health benefits. Individuals should pursue this method with caution, since it can include risks such as a punctured bowel.
