When your nickname is “The Body,” one can assume you know a thing or two about looking great. That’s definitely true when “the body” we’re talking about is model Heidi Klum. She’s taking her knowledge and God-given talent for beauty and making a go at an entrepreneurial makeup line. She’s also more than willing to share what beauty products and tricks she loves most, so listen up and we might all learn a thing or two.

Heidi is inspired by the chic and the colorful, but all in good taste. “A lot…is just so over-the-top.” When you simply want something fun and pretty that makes you look and feel good you don’t want to have to compromise or rework what’s already there to make it what you wanted in the first place. That’s the idea behind everything she does and it works!

An example of one such product is glittery eye liner. Who would have thought a glittery liner wasn’t over-the-top? It makes any eye color look vibrant and bright and adds dimension to your eyes – something we can all enjoy. To take her eyes to the next level, Heidi uses false lashes. She says the best way to put them on is to first apply your mascara and then add individual lashes. Although they can be troublesome to get on just right, with practice they go on in a snap and it’s so worth the effort. They open your eyes and add depth without a lot of weighty makeup.

“I’m shocked that most people don’t use [an eyelash curler].” They are the most useful tool in your makeup bag! When you use one correctly it makes all the difference in the world to your lashes and to your overall look. They are so simple and easy to use.

Heidi admits that it’s a good thing she’s got someone else on-hand to do her hair when it really matters. “Some people are really good at doing their hair… If you ever see me with my hair up, you can assume it’s my easy way out.”

To look at her photographs you’d assume she has the most cooperative hair in the world. But Heidi’s only got one pinned-up hairstyle that she does really well herself. That’s a good thing to learn – figure out what you can do well and then perfect that look or that style. A signature look is something we end up with anyway; you might as well make it a really good one.

The last bit of advice on looking great that Heidi shares is to keep blotting papers on-hand at all times. “…otherwise there’s no way I’d be looking good an hour later.” Especially in the sun and heat, these little papers are a lifesaver to your makeup. Many people don’t realize all that blotting papers do for your skin and for your makeup. They get rid of the oils that build-up and that helps control breakouts. They also keep your makeup in place. Heat will ravage all the cosmetics you take so much care to put on. Blotting papers should never be farther away than your purse.
