Christina starts her workout with her trainer, Tee. One of our favorite things about her workout is that she doesn’t get barked at to stay motivated. Boot camp training is great for some, but for the rest of us it’s nice to know that kindness in the gym can be a motivator too! Christina says that all Tee has to do is say, “I want you to do 200 bicycles; go right through it and don’t stop.” Then she knows she’s serious and Christina’s all over it.
And what Tee’s got her doing is no joke. Aguilera does a 90 minute workout five days a week. They focus on every major sector of her body and on strength training. Christina admits that when she started, she couldn’t do a guy pushup and pull ups were no picnic either. Now she can do five pull ups in a row. Along with those, she does 40 minutes of cardio which may include running backwards on a treadmill set on a hill incline – wow! – or using the elliptical machines. She also works in 40 minutes of circuit training with weights and 10 minutes of stretching.
She says she’s grateful for the shape she’s got now. Although she was happy with herself pre-baby, her toughest area to keep tone was her stomach. Her abs are getting tougher by the workout and so is the rest of her. Christina keeps her priorities in check and that’s also helping her to get back into rock start shape. She’ll schedule an interview for 10 P.M. so she can spend the day with Max, and she makes sure that family stays first – a real image change from the bad girl she used to promote. Her perfectionist tendencies are also lending a hand in her workout routine since she hates doing it. “My attitude [about working out] was, this had better hurry up – I want results!”
Whatever the motivation, it’s working! Christina is back to her busy lifestyle that just keeps getting busier. So what part of her routine will you adopt – running backwards, uphill; 90 minute workouts or finding just the right motivation for you and your psyche?
