In most pictures, Katherine Heigl has a fresh faced glow that rivals even JLo. Her minimalist look normally capitalizes on her lips, but never leavers her cheeks or eyes in the dark. Here’s how she does it. She follows her cardinal rule of getting ready: “I want to do the easiest thing I can to make me look healthy.” She starts with a cream mousse blush in a pink liquid shine dabbed on her cheek bones and over her brow bones. “It really opens up my face,” she says. This is one product she doesn’t want to be without. It’s quick, it’s easy and it goes with any outfit and any color combination on her face.
It’s no surprise that when asked what she will always give-in to and maybe even splurge on a little, she said great lip gloss. Rule number two is to be nice to your lips. Katherine shared that her go-to product is lip salve. “I always have it with me” to keep chapping and dry, cracked lips at bay.
Another rule for a great finish is to brush your brows. She agrees with the experts that this is one of the best ways to complete your look. It’s the last thing she does before she leaves the house, in fact.
Katherine has recently become the spokeswoman for a new scent and she couldn’t be happier. She lets us in on rule number three: “I use perfume to set the stage for who I want to be that day.” So true! Scent can transform your mood and the mood of others around you. It can transport you back to a time or place and work like magic for or against you. Choosing the right scent is as important as choosing the right lip color.
Even on the red carpet, Katherine’s eyes always shine in subdued colors that blend nicely with her lip color and accent her face. Choosing colors and application that both highlights and blends your look can be tricky. Go for eye colors that compliment your lip color and your natural eye color. Liquid liner can be directed evenly and smudged to create a less dramatic look. Black mascara is always a favorite because it goes with anything and makes your eyes really pop.
Taking cues from Katherine is easy and her look is universal. Choose your makeup colors to match your skin tone and your mood and follow her rules of beauty to find yourself feeling great just as you are. Another favorite rule: Have confidence and be yourself.
