When asked if she feels the need to always appear paparazzi-ready, Lindsay gives the answer you’d expect from her – “No, because I don’t care. I’m a normal person. Nobody’s perfect.”
While most “normal” people don’t usually have the opportunity to create their own skincare products, Lindsay has and she swears it’s one of the best you can use. It’s a tanning mist that she felt the need to produce after some rather messy tanning experiences, one of which left her skin green just before a press junket. This mist is very hydrating so it gives the skin an opportunity to absorb the tanner evenly. Dry skin leaves unavoidable splotches and streaks, so the moisturizing qualities of this product are so important to its success.
What really sets Lindsay’s tanner apart from the rest is that it smells great. “I was obsessed with making it smell good.” So many self tanners smell so bad it’s like a punishment for using them. And the smell lingers and leaches into your clothes. This tanner has a fragrance that you can wear out and not feel self-conscious.
It’s not just her tanner that keeps Lindsay looking bronzed and fresh – although it’s a big part of her fresh-from-the-shore look. She also swears by lip balm, hydrating serum and sunglasses. Especially when traveling, Lindsay’s number one skincare priority is to stay hydrated. Skin needs to have enough moisture to replenish itself from whatever you put it through. If it doesn’t, it sure won’t have anything left over to give you a glow. Tan skin especially needs to be hydrated so it doesn’t show dry lines and wrinkles.
Hydrating serums are preferred over lotions and creams because they begin with an oilier base that not only penetrates the skin, but it coats to protect and it acts like a time-release capsule. It continues to soak into your skin as it’s needed. So when you’re on an airplane and you’re skin is breathing recycled air and experiencing all the changes that go along with flying, it normally becomes parched and is choking for moisture by the time it gets it. Serums take care of that a little better at least. Lip balm works the same way. It really coats your lips and it stays put even when you’re eating or drinking.
