Lucy Liu’s Look: How to Get It

Lucy Liu’s Look: How to Get ItWhether Lucy Liu is on the big screen or coming into your family room through the television, this actress has the necessary star quality to carry off any look with style. Liu has been seen in the films Charlie’s Angels, Kill Bill and Lucky Number Slevin, and she had a starring role in TV’s Ally McBeal. Her hair and makeup styles have run the gamut, depending upon which role she was currently portraying and her own lifestyle preferences. If you have admired Lucy Liu’s style from afar, now you can copy her look with hair and makeup tips that you can do at home.

Makeup Magic

The palette for all of Lucy Liu’s makeup creations is her smooth, clean skin that provides a beautiful backdrop for any look? How does she do it? Liu has revealed to InStyle.com that she stays away from caffeine because she believes it is very bad for the skin. Drinking plenty of water also helps Liu keep her skin young and radiant looking. Good skin care means less makeup, but there are certain features that Liu does play up beautifully.

Eye liner is one of the staples to achieve Liu’s look, and two different types of liner are often used to completely accent her eyes. A liquid liner outlines the upper lid and is generally used for daytime wear and a pencil is used inside of the lower lid for extra definition at night. An earthy tone of shadow can also be used across the lids to the brow bone.   To add a glow to the face without looking too made up; you can apply a creamy product that can be used on the cheeks as well as the lips.

Hair, Beautiful Hair!

It’s hard to miss Liu’s long, flowing mane, whether it is razor straight or loaded with bouncing curls. Recently, her hair was cut into a bob for her new television role on ABC’s Cashmere Mafia, which is yet another look that Liu carries off with style and beauty. To get Liu’s bob, begin with a razor cut that falls between the chin and the shoulders, with the shortest lengths at the nape of the neck. Once the style is cut, it can be easily styled with a blow dryer and a bit of scrunching action. Liu can also flick the ends outward with her fingers for an edgier, urban look.

To care for your do, begin by shampooing your hair in lukewarm water with a shine-enhancing product. Follow up with a shine-boosting conditioner and then towel dry. Apply a styling cream to your damp tresses and allow hair to air dry. If you scrunch your ends as the hair is air drying, you will get a do with plenty of natural texture, and you won’t have to worry about drying out your ends with the heat of a blow dryer. Finish off with a light spritz of hairspray to hold the style if you like.   For a more glam look, you can use a blow dryer and a round brush to create a sleek, sophisticated bob that will look perfect for a night on the town.

Lucy Liu is an actress with style, but you can steal a bit of that look with these tips and techniques under your belt. Practice up, and you will be ready to head out for your next “red carpet” evening looking like a star!
