This Is Why Celebs Always Look Good – Their Stylists Tell All

This Is Why Celebs Always Look Good – Their Stylists Tell AllIt’s 100 degrees in the shade. The sun is beating down and the humidity is on the rise. You feel like a sloppy mess – survival closer to the front of your mind than style. You make it home and into the safety of air conditioning and collapse onto the couch with a glass of water. Later that night you see your favorite celeb on TV or on a magazine cover gracefully floating through the same environment you slogged through earlier that day but with perfect hair and a smile on her face. How does she do it? How does her hair hold up when yours is still a straggly mess?

The answer of course is that she has a stylist who makes more than the gross national product of most developing countries. Since most Hollywood stylists are understandably outside our budget, we did the next best thing – we got four top stylists to share some of their secrets for fabulous summer hair (for free).

Eugene Souleiman

Souleiman works with models on more than twenty fashion shows every year, so he knows what works in and out of season on a variety of looks. He recommends a proactive approach to summer hair. A beach spray can protect your hair before the chlorine of the pool or the salt of the ocean can suck all the moisture out and leave it dull and lifeless. Another option he uses is a leave in/rinse out conditioner. Try running a small amount through damp hair and putting it up in a loose bun. After the beach, you can rinse and style or just leave it in and let your hair down in loose waves.

Garren

Even non-celebrities recognize his name. His clientele includes a virtual who’s who of Hollywood royalty. His advice is again to protect your hair before the damage starts. His tool of choice is a shampoo and conditioner with UV filters to keep sun damage at bay. His other favorite trick is to use a straightening gel on frizzy or curly hair in the summer. We all know how humidity can ravage those curly locks. This product helps form a seal around the cuticle that keeps humidity out.

Chris McMillan

McMillan does Jennifer Aniston’s hair. Does he really need any other credentials? We don’t think so… McMillan’s favorite trick for summer hair is to use a dry shampoo and a surf spray together. This technique works especially well for oily hair. He recommends applying the dry shampoo to the roots and then flipping your hair upside down and liberally apply the surf spray. Finish in a low bun and you’re all set for a day in the heat. The best part of the look is that it actually looks better the more it interacts with the heat, wind and humidity.

Serge Normant

If you’ve ever picked up a fashion or style magazine, you’ve seen Normant’s work. From advertisements to cover shoots, he has had his styles show up in every publication worth mentioning. For summer, his favorite look is long flowing waves. His technique is simple. Apply a white tea polishing milk to damp hair. Divide your hair into two parts and finish both in loose braids. When you take the braids out you get a natural summery ripple that holds up throughout the day.
