Fashion & Women’s Sleepwear

Fashion & Women’s SleepwearWomen’s sleepwear is no longer limited to baggy pajamas or large t-shirts and is now falling under the fashion category. More designers are creating playful, sexy, and comfortable styles of women’s sleepwear that will suit just about any personality. There are plenty of types of sleepwear to choose from so if you’re thinking about adding something new to your nighttime wardrobe, you’ll want to know what’s fashionable and trendy.

Believe it or not, but women want to be sexy when they sleep, too! Just the feeling of satin or silk and wearing a sexy style can allow any woman to feel at her best when it’s time for bed. Of course being sexy at night isn’t just limited to wearing lingerie or something naughty. Many times the best women’s sleepwear designs don’t have to be over the top or raunchy. The most popular sleepwear items include camisoles, nighties, boy shorts, and negligees.

Camisoles come in a variety of styles and sizes and for some women, they prefer to wear these to bed. You can choose from silk camisoles, stretch lace camisoles, or satin, among many other designs. Nighties tend to describe sleepwear that is a woman’s short nightgown. Another term is the “babydoll.” This popular style of women’s sleepwear comes in a variety of styles and materials, such as lace, bows, ribbons, ruffles, fur, nylon, sheer fabric, silk, or chiffon. This makes it easy for a woman to choose just the right kind for her nighttime needs. Most nighties come with thin, spaghetti straps for comfort while sleeping. Babydolls are known for having a high hemline, usually six inches above the knees, as well as an open neckline to expose the entire décolleté area.

Boy shorts may seem like an unlikely option but many women find complete comfort in wearing these super short shorts to bed. Sleepwear boy shorts come in comfortable fabrics such as cotton, silk, and satin. This style is ideal for women that don’t particularly care for nightgowns or other “open” styles of sleepwear. Most women pair a tank top or small t-shirt with their boy shorts.

The negligee is one form of sleepwear that continues to be popular and has been around since the 18th century. However, recent styles and changes in design have led many to now label negligees as a form of lingerie. Modern day negligees come with bodices, lace, bows and multiple layers.

Another item that is quickly becoming a part of sleepwear fashion is the robe. You can now find many sleepwear outfits that come with a matching robe. These can come in terry cloth, silk, or satin with long sleeves. Terry cloth robes tend to be used for keeping warm, while other styles are lightweight, making it easy to lounge around the house in as well as fall asleep in. Pairing a good robe with your favorite sleepwear outfit is a great way to end your night and get a good night’s rest.
