Flowers Define Year-Round Fashion

Flowers Define Year-Round FashionTake a look back at the movies of the early ‘50’s and you’ll see the inspirational pattern for this season’s floral designs. It seems that designers like Giambattista Valli and Michael Kors are not yet ready to hang up the fabric and patterns of summer, so they are making floral history with fall gowns and dresses that are holding onto every last ounce of summer. Their designs are redefining flowers that were once reserved for summer fashion by making a watercolor display on bold colors and thick layers of silk. The results are flowers that will bloom all year and make this the year that summer never ended.

If you can’t get your hands on a Valli gown, you’ll still have your change to look great in the floral prints of fall. You won’t have to search long to find that flowers are appearing on everything from snowboarding jackets and pants to winter coats to long sleeved T’s and even boots. Imagine how great these bold designs will look in the long winter months when everything seems to get darker and heavier!

What defines this season’s floral patterns is that they look mysterious, almost wispy. You won’t see any bright, vibrant gerbera daisies or tulips in full bloom. Instead you’ll have to look close to be sure that, yes you did see flowers all over that dress. Not the cute flowers of spring, but enigmatic varieties like African violets and roses in full bloom. These styles resemble a vase filled to overflowing with flowers vying for their chance to be seen. Mix that with what looks like an undefined watercolor print that swirls with color and texture, and you’re beginning to catch a glimpse of what fall floral looks like.

Flowers are also sticking around on accessories. Purses and bags are covered in these nervy prints. Shoes and even boots are stitched and painted with flowers in styles unlike any other season has seen. You’ll also be seeing flowers tucked behind girl’s ears and in ponytails throughout the year. Seems we can’t get enough of the hot house this year.

Even though it’s not the bright, rosy flowers of spring, it still holds fast to the feeling that things are blooming and color is still at its prime. It’s refreshing to see so many flowers in the season of wool and angora. So while you’ll still have to pack away your favorite sun dress covered in daisies, you can opt for a more sophisticated floral dress that will still make you feel like a lady – a bold, sexy lady who’s not afraid to make a statement. Now who doesn’t love that once in awhile?

Flowers are here to stay. They may be taking on the attitude of fall and winter, but they are bright and audacious and begging to be seen.
