You may have heard of shapewear before but never thought about trying it. Before delving in too deep, it should be noted that shapewear can’t work complete miracles so go into this with an open-mind. Surprisingly enough, the concept of shapewear began many, many years ago. Remember the images of women wearing uncomfortable corsets and brassieres? Those were the early forms of shapewear. Luckily for women today, the idea of foundation garments have undergone huge changes and designers are now creating shapewear that not only feels good but looks natural underneath your clothing. Modern versions of shapewear now include body suits, control top pantyhose, bras, girdles, and control top panties, to name a few.
When shopping for shapewear, it helps to know what problems areas you want to tackle and find the appropriate foundation garment. While there are a number of manufacturers that sell shapewear, you’ll want to stick with quality over price. That doesn’t mean you need to spend a fortune but don’t skimp out by buying cheap shapewear, either. You get what you pay for and you’ll quickly find that most - not all - discounted or “cheap” shapewear will fail you at some point in time. Cheap brands of shapewear don’t use the best materials or the most ideal designs. For best results, be willing to spend a bit more or at least shop around and compare prices.
Many women hate their stomach. For those of you hoping to conceal your stomach flab or “pooch,” you can turn to shapewear in the form of full body shapers, support briefs, control top pantyhose, or control top panties. All contain special designs that smooth out your stomach pooch and create the illusion of a tighter tummy underneath your clothing. There are even forms of shapewear designed to work well under a form-fitting dress and can make any body type - from curvaceous to boyish - look fabulous. To control a large bust or to hide the appearance of back fat, there is shapewear available that uses both the features of a bra and a body shaper, so you can tuck and smooth out the bra bulges while offering comfortable support.
The best way to find good shapewear is to spend time in the store trying them on. Some may fit more snug than you’re used to but as long as you get the right size, you’ll eventually feel right at home in your shapewear.
