Killer Add-Ons That Make Your Wardrobe Amazing

Killer Add-Ons That Make Your Wardrobe AmazingSometimes all it takes is a little something new to make you feel like a million bucks and ready to take on the world. Sometimes that same “little something” is all it takes to give your wardrobe a shot of life and a whole new lease on looking great. Often you don’t need to replace your existing clothes, you just need to add a touch of beauty and voila! These simply killer add-ons, like broaches and appliqués, can make your plain-old look brand new.

Add a large broach to any neckline to add elegance and amusement to your entire outfit. Hard to believe that one simple accessory could change so much. Broaches, especially large and interesting ones, can change an entire outfit. Use it not only as a fashion accessory but as a way to reshape the neckline. Simply gather material from the bodice to the neckline and fasten the broach around the gathers off-centered at the neckline.

Appliqués are highly overlooked. They create an amazing new dimension on your clothing that can take an every-day dress and make it spectacular. Appliqués can alter the mood of your clothing by dressing it up or toning it down. They create a fashion centerpiece wherever it’s placed – along the shoulder, around a hemline or even along the side seam of a pair of jeans.

Belts are not new news, but making them work for their place on our outfit gives them new sizzle. Take a longer belt and tie it around your waist instead of using the buckle. Make it slightly off-center and allow the ends to dangle. Layer three completely different belts (alter colors, patterns or textures), tying one and buckling the other two.

The cape of the Golden Era is back in lux fabrics like silk and fur, satin and crushed velvet, and cashmere. Worn over a simple black dress, you have now upped your high society look and added intrigue to a once straightforward piece. Add a plaid cape over a pair of jeans and a turtleneck sweater to make a trip to the used book store a fashion outing as well as a shopping adventure.

Speaking of turtlenecks, this staple of cold weather fashion has been updated with fitted scrunch necklines that reach your chin or straight necks that have a fold-over collar at the very top. While a turtleneck may not seem like an add-on piece, consider the many ways you can layer over it – wraps, shawls, stolls, or a handful of necklaces that tier from your collarbone to your waist.

Using one add-on can revolutionize your look. Consider the possibilities the next time you look in an antique store or your grandmother’s jewelry box or at a fabric supply store. The more inventive and creative the add-on, the more fashionable your outfit becomes.
