Tips for Sporting Sheer Fashions

Tips for Sporting Sheer FashionsWith sheer, you can either go right or go very, very wrong. Many celebrities as well as everyday people have tried to sport sheer fabrics in their fashion ensembles, and only a handful has managed to do so successfully. If you’ve been wondering how to wear sheer fashions this season without being labeled a “goth” or fashion mistake, you’ll want to keep reading for a handful of tips and tricks for making sheer fabrics work for you.

One of the most important pieces of advice regarding wearing sheer fabrics is to make it timely and stylish, not a throw back to past decades. You never want your sheer fabric to “date” your outfit, especially if you have an ensemble that is following the current trends. Avoid wearing a short skirt and using the sheer material to make up for the length by making the sheer fabric hemline longer. This look is outdated and even worse, may make you look like a belly dancer or genie gone wrong.

When it comes to sheer fashions and fabrics, the key is to make it work with a bit of skin but not too much. Showing too much skin while wearing a sheer fabric will make you look like you’ve worn your lingerie outside of the bedroom. Having just the right amount of skin showing, automatically allows the sheer look to be sexy, stylish, and playful without having to do too much with your outfit. Look for dresses that properly use sheer fabrics to create a sexy look but make sure that it covers all the right parts of your body. When choosing a dress that contains elements of sheer fabrics, it is best to stick to classic black, since this color deems the outfit appropriate for evening wear. In general sheer fabrics in black are more favorable than eyesore shades such as red, green, purple, etc.

It’s best to find a dress that uses sheer material around the chest, shoulders, or neckline. Showing a hint of skin in any of these areas with sheer fabric can make an outfit stand out in a classy and sexy way, instead of trashy.

There are other things to keep in mind aside from the actual sheer fabric itself, such as wearing the appropriate undergarments. Regardless of whether you’re wearing the sheer material on the top, bottom or both (if you’re doing both, do so wisely!), then you’ll want to avoid wearing a bra and panty set that is light in color, such as white, ivory, etc. Either wear black or nude as long as it doesn’t look tacky with what you’re wearing. Additionally, it is smart to check your sheer fabrics for any tags or labels and cut them off or remove them in a way that won’t damage the material. Visible labels and tags can completely ruin an otherwise great sheer fashion.
