Fashion Trends for 2008 – Shoes

Fashion Trends for 2008 – ShoesIf you are a true fashionista, you’ll want to not only know the trends of this year, you’ll want to know just about every detail you can about the hottest items and where to find them. When it comes to shoes, most women just can’t get enough. Well, if shoes are your weakness, you’ll fall head over heels for this latest information on what shoes you need to include in your wardrobe to keep up with the times.

Love boots and laces? Well, then you’ll be happy with this good news because now you can have the best of both worlds, since they are among the handful of the hottest shoes this year. Lace-up boots and shoes have been gracing all the major fashion runways from Docle and Gabbana, to Donna Karan and Galliano. Along with boots and laces, certain materials are now garnering certain shoes a lot of attention in the fashion world. On the same note, above the knee boots are making a place for themselves on the runways and in the latest fashion trends. If you thought reptile patterns and leather were only limited to jackets and cowboy boots, think again! Reptile leather has now found a new home on the more exotic pairs of shoes. This style includes snake, alligator, crocodile and lizard hides. Such designs and styles showcase a subtle, yet bold statement. However, it is important that should you try this on for size, you’ll need to avoid cheap imitations and gaudy prints. If you’re going to pursue this style, you’ll want to invest in the quality.

For a long time, wearing open-toed shoes with tights or stockings were frowned upon. No longer is this an issue in 2008 and 2009! It is now becoming a fashion trend to wear stockings, socks or tights with the cutest peep-toe heels. Black is the best color of stockings to wear for this style but you can also choose more adventuresome, bright colors more to your liking. More and more designers are turning to styles that are “folk-like” in nature. Fringe is back as well, so look for shoes with short fringes, such as ankle boots with suede or leather materials. Folk-inspired shoes include everything from studs to fancy stitching.

Color-wise, you’ll want to go for shoes that are two tone or multicolored. Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Prada, Valentino and a score of other top designers no longer stick to one color on their crafty shoe items. You can choose from classic blacks and grays to the bolder and brighter shades to offset just about any outfit. While pointy-toed heels continue to hold their own in the fashion world, a newcomer making waves this year is the squared-off toe. Unlike past gaudy styles, this new generation of squared-off toed shoes now carries a more tapered look with a short and blunt tip instead of a fully squared one.
