How to Create a Fragrance Wardrobe

How to Create a Fragrance WardrobeFor some of us, a signature fragrance is the best way to let our individual personality shine through. For others, a single fragrance is not going to hold interest for very long. This is when a fragrance wardrobe comes into play, allowing you to enjoy diversity in scents depending on your mood or the time of the year. A fragrance wardrobe will give you a collection of fragrances that you can use year round so that you will always smell your very best, no matter what the occasion.

The Basics

To start with the basics, we went to the experts to discover the best way to build the foundation of your fragrance wardrobe. “Fabulous Fragrances II” by Jan Moran says, “The Fragrance Foundation,” an industry association, suggests a minimum of four scent types to start a wardrobe: a floral, a spicy Oriental, a chypre (or mossy-woody), and a green. These will carry you through various climates and occasions, and you can enhance your wardrobe from there.” Okay fragrance divas, it’s time to shop for your faves in each of these categories. But if you are still at a loss as to how to build that fragrance wardrobe, there are a couple of other guidelines that you can follow.

Seasonal Scents

Another option for creating a fragrance wardrobe is to work it around the seasons of the year. For example, winter fragrances generally tend toward the oriental scents, with hints of vanilla or musk to warm up the cold days. Spring moves into the lighter floral fragrances that will celebrate the new life that “springs” up during this time of year. Summer is the perfect time to flaunt the citrus fragrances that will give you a fresh, clean scent when the sweat begins to glisten. And autumn will direct you back down the richer fragrance path, with woody aromas and some heavier fruit scents. You can begin your fragrance wardrobe by collecting one of each of these seasonal fragrances, which will give you the same variety as the recommendations above.

Reflect your Mood

You can also begin a fragrance wardrobe that will offer scents to tantalize your various moods. If you find yourself under additional stress, try aromatherapy scents that include lavender or vanilla to soothe the soul. Sensual fragrances may incorporate musk, jasmine or sandalwood, that will make you feel oh, so feminine and sexy. And for days where you need an extra spurt of energy to finish your “to-do” list, opt for a fragrance that contains uplifting hints of citrus or pine. By assembling your fragrance wardrobe in this manner, you are guaranteed to let your scent match your mood, no matter what your mood might be.

Fragrance is a wonderful way to accessorize day or night, but you can have fun with your scents by building a fragrance wardrobe that will give you a choice in aromas. Smell pretty every day.
