Fragrances for Children?

Fragrances for Children?Children tend to grow up so fast. While most of the early years are spent chasing the kids around the house in an attempt to get them to take a bath, there eventually comes a time when a child realizes he/she wants to be clean and smell fresh. One way of achieving this is through the use of fragrance. However, there is no need to get your son or daughter the most expensive perfume or cologne at the department store. There is a way to introduce the use of fragrance to your child or teen that is appropriate for their age group.

Young Children

If your son or daughter isn’t quite a teen yet but expresses the desire to begin wearing a fragrance, don’t worry. There are plenty of companies that specialize in fragrances for younger children. While shopping with your child make sure to read the labels. Most fragrances for kids are specially formulated for sensitive skin. Keep your child’s skin type in mind and shop accordingly. Look for products that contain botanicals, vitamins, antioxidants and fruit extracts. These ingredients tend to be very gentle on the skin. Also look for fragrances that contain little to no alcohol. If your child has a skin condition such as eczema, check with your child’s doctor first before purchasing such a product.

You can buy children’s fragrances both online as well as local stores. Many come in fun colors (purples and pinks for the girls and blues and greens for the boys) as well as shapes ranging from their favorite animals to popular cartoon characters. Because this is your son or daughter’s time to shine as a mini grown-up, allow them to pick a fragrance of their choosing, but don’t let them just go for the first one they fall in love with. Present them with a variety to choose from and give them time to decide which they like best. Once they’ve found the scent they like, teach them how to apply it. One good spray is all that is needed most times. In addition to teaching your child how to wear and apply fragrance, also make them aware of the dangers of misuse. It is important that your child understands that their favorite bottle of kiddy perfume can be very harmful if swallowed or sprayed in their eyes.

Teenagers

The range of choices for perfumes and other types of fragrances are very open when it comes to teenagers. Most teenage guys opt for manly scented body sprays. These products are super affordable and can be found in virtually any drugstore. As your son gets a little older, he’ll eventually include a bottle of pricey cologne in his personal care collection. These fragrances can be found in major department stores. For the young ladies, body sprays, also called “body splashes”, are a popular item. These floral and fruity scents can be found in drugstores or specialty stores and are usually under $20.
