Fragrances for the Season

Fragrances for the SeasonDear Santa, please stuff my stocking with yummy scents that I will love wearing this Christmas. Are you hoping for a new fragrance wardrobe this holiday season? There are plenty of yummy fragrances to choose from this year, and the arrival of winter is the perfect time to shift your scent style to one that is more appropriate for the colder weather. Bid farewell to the light fruity and floral scents that are perfect matches for the warmer months, and get ready to greet the heavier, spicier scents that complement the cooler days and nights with style and substance.

All in the Family

The first step in finding a winter fragrance is to understand what the different fragrance families are. The first three categories of fragrances; citrus, green and floral are generally best suited to warmer days. However, there are some floral scents that can transition well to winter because the scent is on the stronger and heavier side. Many choose their winter fragrances from categories such as the chypre scents, which tend toward the woody and mossy aromas such as pine. (Think Christmas trees!) Another good choice in the colder weather is an Oriental fragrance, which is also one of the more popular scents for evening wear year-round. Select a lighter Oriental fragrance for daytime wear during the winter months and stick with the heavier scents for nighttime.

Celebrity Status

Another popular way to choose a scent for the winter season is by selecting one named after a celebrity that you admire. Some of these stars have even produced a scent specifically for summer and another for winter, making it easy for you to make a cold weather choice. There are plenty of celebrity fragrances available today, from the actresses, singers and even authors. Of course, what smells good on the stars may not work as well for you, so try before you buy to ensure that you end up with a fragrance that is right for you.

Sticking with the Faves

Many of the popular perfume makers of today will also produce special fragrances for the season, and this can be another fun way to try out a variety of scents that are tailor made for the colder weather. Most of these fragrances will be heavier and will tend to last longer throughout the day. Aromas that you may find in these winter fragrances will include spicy smells, woody fragrances and musks. These seasonal fragrances will often come with special packaging like beautiful colors or extra bling that will make them excellent gifts for the holidays.

There are plenty of opportunities to celebrate during the holiday season, with parties and gatherings galore. After shopping for that perfect little black dress, why not find a great seasonal fragrance to accessorize the look? Check out what’s available in fragrances this season and find the perfect aroma to complement the holiday. Smell yummy and feel festive.
