You can still be the life of the party and not have to give up that healthy look to your skin. While it might seem to be an oxymoron, you can have a great complexion and a social life as well. Gone are the days when you had to be home with the lights out by ten o’clock. You can go out, have a good time, and look fantastic the next day.
What’s the secret? It’s knowing how to manage your schedule. This doesn’t just mean time. You have to be able to handle a regimen of exercise, healthy eating, drinking lots of water, and getting plenty of sleep. The key is moderation. If you know you will be partying on the weekend, make sure you get plenty of rest during the week. Get into the habit of eating well and drinking lots of water. Make sure your routine includes daily exercise as well.
While it’s probably a bad idea to party three or four nights a week, you can live it up on the weekends and still maintain the look of good health. When you go to those late-night soirees, limit the amount of alcohol that you drink. Choose red wine, which is rich in antioxidants, instead of other beverages which add calories but little else of value. Since alcohol is dehydrating, make sure you use a good skin moisturizer to replenish your complexion. A good rule of thumb is to drink one glass of water for every glass of alcohol you consume.
While many clubs or bars are beginning to restrict smoking areas, it is often the case that you will be exposed to second hand smoke. One of the quickest ways for your skin to age is by being a smoker or being around second-hand smoke. Tobacco damages the skin by drying it out, restricting the blood vessels, and reducing the flow of oxygen and other essential nutrients. To counteract this aging effect, if you are a smoker, stop smoking. Make sure that after an evening around second hand smoke, you cleanse your face thoroughly. Use an astringent to unclog pores, followed by a moisturizer.
Stay away from the junk food or at least eat it in moderation. Sleep in the next day – but not too long. Maintaining regular sleeping hours will actually make you feel better than if you sleep the day away. Head off to the gym to work up a sweat. This will help eliminate the toxins from your body.
If you can manage your sleep time, your diet, and your exercise, you can handle a few late nights. Or make that early mornings!
