Can Your Cell Phone Ruin Your Complexion?

Can Your Cell Phone Ruin Your Complexion? These days it seems as if everything is damaging to your skin. Just when you thought you heard it all, there is recent evidence coming out that cell phone usage is damaging to your complexion. Artificial electromagnetic waves (AEW) have been named as the culprit that can leap out of your cell phone and other electronic devices and speeding up the aging process of the skin.

Is this really something that you should be concerned about? Apparently so. Cell phones have been proven to emit a form of radiation that has led to health problems such as infertility and brain injury. While the proof is scant, studies are leaning toward the damage risks being valid. If AEWs can do all of this to your health, of course it may be capable of something as simple as damaging your skin as well. It is believed by some that the radiation emitted from cell phones is as bad for our skin as the regular list of well-known pollutants that can damage the skin.

While the obvious solution to protecting your skincare from AEWs is to talk less on your phone, skincare companies are instead riding on the wave of this widespread health scare by coming out with their own versions of skincare products that are proven to reduce your risk of cellular skin damage (no pun intended). Some of these experimental products claim to be formulated to reduce the amount of AEWs that enters your skin from your cell phone. Reps for these companies claim that without the use of their product, people will become more prone to the signs of accelerated aging such as developing premature wrinkles caused by electromagnetic waves from frequent use of their cell phone handsets.

This so-called “magnetic defense complex” appears to be catching on as an idea but there are just as many others who condemn this belief and the skincare companies looking to cash in. Skeptics say that it is unwise to tell the public through commercial advertisements that their cell phones could be emitting radiation that can make them age faster and claiming that the only way to preserve their youth is by buying the company’s product. While the skincare companies say their finds are factual and based on years of research, it has yet to be proven if their product does in fact prevent the signs of premature aging due to AEWs.

So what does this mean for you? Until there is more testing and concrete evidence of such AEW damage and a realistic solution you can continue to use your cell phone as much as you desire. But be sure to keep all skincare issues at bay by continuing to practice good skincare habits, such as cleansing, toning and moisturizing at least twice a day and practicing good sun care.
