Make Your Relationship & Your Beauty Routine Work Together

Relationship & Your Beauty Routine Work TogetherWhen it comes to getting into a new relationship, many women hate to admit that they oftentimes go out of their way to change certain things about themselves. It’s one thing to all of a sudden be interested in a certain sport you normally would never watch but what about your beauty regimen? If your current routine involves a lot but you don’t want your significant other to think you’re high maintenance, then you’re in luck. There are ways to simplify things to be more relationship-friendly without sacrificing the results.

It’s fairly safe to say that a majority of men would rather have a girlfriend who is low-maintenance, looks-wise. Sure, our fellas want us to continue looking our best - especially when going out - but if your overall process takes forever to put together, this could quickly put a cramp in your relationship. It’s important for women to realize it is possible to be picture perfect without the tedious routine. If you want to show your guy that your makeup routine doesn’t make up a huge portion of your life, then you’ll want to begin simplifying things so you’ll be able to spend more time cuddling with him instead of your makeup mirror.

Does your normal makeup routine involve the whole shebang (foundation, concealer, powder, blush, eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and lip color)? First things first: you don’t need every single one of those makeup items each time you plan on going out with your guy. Some women tend to be their own worst critics and use makeup to cover flaws that really aren’t there or very visible to begin with. Look at your complexion as is - do you have any crazy zits or breakouts? Major skin discoloration? Dark under-eye circles? No? Then you don’t need all that makeup! A much easier routine that’s also relationship-friendly should consist of concealer, powder, mascara and lip color or gloss. This combination only takes a few minutes to pull off and will give your complexion a fresh-faced, all natural look that any man will appreciate. In fact, if your guy is really into you, chances are he won’t care one way or another how little makeup you have on - many men have actually gone on record to say they prefer less makeup over more anyway.

Are you used to waking up by yourself in the morning? When you’re in a new relationship, you can expect to spend many an early morning next to your sweetie. But that means (gasp) him seeing you without any makeup! Women going into a panic attack just envisioning this - don’t worry. If you want to wake up looking fresh and beautiful in the morning, make sure to cleanse your face so that it is free of makeup (sleeping with eye liner or mascara will have you looking like a nightmare in the morning). Follow up with eye cream to combat morning puffiness and apply a moisturizer formulated for nighttime, which will work its magic as you slumber.

Have the bad habit of forgetting or being too lazy to wash off your makeup before bed? Then make sure you’re wearing powder foundation (mineral is best) that’s non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and in a formula/shade that won’t stain the sheets. Sleeping with liquid foundation or a full face of makeup is a huge no-no.

Don’t want to turn your guy off with sticky, ooey-gooey lip gloss? Opt for a lip stain that comes with built in shine, minus the ooze. Petroleum jelly is also a girl’s best friend for a natural shine that won’t ruin the make-out moment.
