Pre-Wedding Beauty Do’s and Don’ts

Pre wedding Do`s and Dont`sEvery woman wants to look beautiful and feel special on her wedding day. In order to achieve glowing, clear skin and flawless makeup, it`s helpful to make a "beauty and skin care plan of action" a few months prior to the big day.

Create a Plan of Action

Be sure to pay special attention to your skin several months prior to your wedding. Consult with an esthetician or skin care therapist and come up with a treatment or maintenance plan. This might include monthly facials, microdermabrasion treatments, light therapy or a series of glycolic peels. Be sure to also use the appropriate home care products (cleansers, toner, exfoliating agents, moisturizer, serums, night cream, mask).

If you suffer from acne or Rosacea, make sure to check in with your dermatologist about your current prescription medications. Because stress exacerbates acne and Rosacea, it`s especially important to be consistent with your treatments and prescriptions.

No Experimenting!

Don`t be tempted to experiment with new products or treatments in the weeks or days leading up to your wedding. The last thing you want to deal with is a major breakout from a new product or an allergic reaction resulting from the overzealous application of a highly potent cosmeceutical serum.

Tape this List of Pre-Wedding Beauty "Don`ts" to Your Mirror:
  • Don`t get a facial a day or two before you walk down the aisle. Even if your skin is normally resilient, the extra stress that you`re under might sensitize it.
  • Unless you secretly desire a red, peeling face, don`t try a "physician-strength" AHA peel the night before you walk down the aisle.
  • To be on the safe side, avoid a potential allergic reaction and don`t start using a new skin care or hair care product a few days before your wedding.
  • Unless you`re an absolute pro, don`t apply self-tanner or visit a spray-tanning booth the day before or the day of your wedding. Too risky!
  • Take care of facial waxing (lip, brows, chin) a week before your wedding. This gives post-waxing bumps, redness and inflammation time to subside.
  • Don`t leave your makeup to chance. Meet with a makeup artist to determine your ideal color palette. Make sure to go through a few practice rounds with him/her to ensure that you won`t be surprised with purple eye shadow and orange lip-gloss on the big day.
  • Don’t forget to be a fanatic about sunscreen! Sunburns aren’t a good (or comfortable) look for brides.
