Beauty for Two: Bath Products You and your Baby can Share

Beauty for Two: Bath Products You and your Baby can ShareWhen my oldest child was born, I received a basket of designer baby bath products that smelled perfectly yummy. I admit that I tried them out for myself with fabulous results – softer skin and that yummy smell that lingered all day long. That was when I discovered that moms can enjoy the benefits of beauty for two as much as babies can!

Baby bath products have evolved significantly to meet the needs of a growing population of mothers who are looking for high quality products that will keep baby`s skin soft and healthy. Today, many of the designers of women`s beauty products are creating their own line of baby beauty as well. This means that you can search the shelves of your favorite brands to find lotions, washes and even shampoos that will be gentle enough for your infant`s sensitive skin at the same time it will pamper you. This is particularly helpful for moms who like to bathe with their babies. It is also space-efficient to keep a single product that can do double duty for both of you.

Bathing like Baby

Many women have used baby oil in bathtubs or to slather on after a shower for the most effective moisturizing treatment. Now you can find baby products that will make a relaxing soak for your bath and washes that will leave skin baby soft after your shower. After bathing, you can opt for that familiar dose of baby oil, or you can try one of the many new baby lotions on the market that will offer a clean, fresh scent while smoothing and softening your skin. One big benefit of using baby products on your grown-up skin is that many of these products are gentle enough to use on even the most sensitive skin types. However, if your skin is very sensitive, you may still want to forgo any type of fragrance in the baby product that you choose.

Other type of baby products that work great for Mom too include shampoos, detangling sprays, sunscreen, bug repellent and lip balm. You can also use some baby wipes to remove makeup and give your hands a quick wash. Even though our kids are all out of diapers, we still keep a package of wipes handy for a hundred different uses. Sunscreens and bug repellents for kids are usually designed to work double duty without harsh ingredients or distasteful scents, making them a good choice for big people too.

Going Organic

Another trend that has made it possible for moms and babies to share their beauty is the many lines of organic products today. Organic bath and beauty items are not only better for your skin because they do not contain any harsh chemicals; they are better for the environment as well. There are numerous lines of organic baby products to choose from so you are sure to find the products that work the best for both of you.

Most doctors will recommend that you don`t use anything on your baby`s skin except water and a soft washcloth for the first couple of months, when his skin is at its most sensitive. After that, feel free to indulge in the many wonderful baby products on the market today – both for your little one and for you!
