Create a Spa at Home
A trip to the spa may sound like a slice of heaven, but many new moms don`t have the time or the cash to indulge. No worries; simply turn your bathroom at home into a luxuriously pampering spa experience with just a few simple steps. First, fill the room with your favorite scented candles and a relaxing CD. Fill the tub with warm water and add aromatherapy bath oil, moisturizing milk or a scattering of rose petals. For maximum benefit, apply a soothing facial before getting into the tub for a smoother complexion while you relax. Grab a glass of wine and let the stress of the day wash away in an indulgent soak. The best time to enjoy private time like this is after the kids are fast asleep, to avoid the possibility of any kind of interruption.
Schedule "Me" Time
Many evenings after the kids are in bed are spent catching up on laundry or other never-ending chores. Schedule one night a week as "Me" time to do whatever you enjoy. This might mean a date with your scrapbooking supplies, a favorite movie or a steamy novel. It could mean catching up with a friend or catching up on the news. Any activity that is going to refresh your body and mind is the perfect indulgence for this special night.
Take it Outside
Sometimes the best remedy for stress and fatigue is good old-fashioned fresh air. Spring is right around the corner, and this is the perfect time to get outside to soak up the sunshine and enjoy the spring blooms that are beginning to make an appearance. Pop your baby in the stroller and take a long leisurely walk around the neighborhood. Most little ones are lulled into a quiet state by the motion of the stroller, so you can enjoy the time of peace to actually finish a thought or indulge in a daydream. When your spouse arrives home in the evening, you can also leave the baby with him for an hour or so to take your stroll in solitude.
Motherhood is a tough job, so allow yourself the occasional pampering that will keep you refreshed and ready for any challenge. When Mom`s happy, the rest of the world motors along smoothly as well.
