Nail Polish: The Must-Have Beauty Tool

Nail Polish: The Must-Have Beauty ToolWe have hundreds of must-haves on the shelves in the beauty supply aisles, but one product has risen back to the top of the list for this season. For the past years buff or natural nails have ruled the fashion world, but color is back and nail polish is once again the beauty tool you don’t want to be without.

Nail polish was once a staple in our fashion repertoire and we had a color to match every outfit. Polished nails were as much an accessory as a bracelet or ring. Then, like all fashion trends colored nail polish was replaced by french manicures. Eventually even french tips were no longer seen and natural, manicured nails took their place. This season brings back the bold shots of color that polished nails bring.

While you’ll once again find every color made on the shelves, the most fashion savvy nails will be painted with dark browns, deep reds and the natural colors of fall – dark orange, cranberry and even black.

To get the best looking nails, compliment your nail polish with other nail tools that shape, buff and smooth. For nails with ridges or creases over the surface, use a buffer to smooth the nail face. Ridges and creases will make it difficult to evenly coat polish over the nail. The ridges will also show through the polish and make it impossible to pull off a smooth, high shine finish.

For dry, cracked nails begin by using a nourishing nail serum that will moisturize your nails just as lotions moisturize your skin. You will also find a wide variety of nail polishes designed for dry nails. Keep nails trimmed as they strengthen and soften. Allow them to grow as you see the white of the nail remain smooth and uncracked.

For soft nails that bend and break easily, strengthening base and top coats in clear or tinted pink colors will work wonders for you. Again, you will find a selection of polishes for your nail type. Keep soft nails short until they strengthen allowing them to grow as you notice that you can no longer bend the tips.

The fun of the resurgence of color is that it works on any length nail. Short nails are as stylish and trendy this fall as long, shaped nails. Natural nails, tips and acrylics are all equally pretty and can be polished and shaped to any length and nail style you like. Dark colors and nail art are sure to be the hottest beauty trend of the season. So get your favorite colors and the tools you need to make your nails a beautiful compliment to every outfit you put on.
