Skilled scammers and hackers put together fake company emails and pose as the company itself in an attempt to extract personal information, namely credit card numbers. If you are in doubt about an email you receive, contact your online retailer and forward them the email if necessary.

Don’t always save information: Even if you buy your skincare products online regularly, resist the temptation to save your credit card and billing information in the browser. This may save you time, but you are also allowing anyone who comes across your information to make a purchase. Whether it is a friend, family member, or a complete stranger that hacks into your computer, you want to protect yourself from those who do not have your best interested at heart.

Run your credit report: One of the quickest ways to keep yourself safe while online is to keep up with your credit report. Requesting your credit report is typically free of charge. Check your credit report for any suspicious activity, such as a large purchase that wasn’t made by you. Go over all of your transactions and make sure they fit. If something doesn’t look right, be sure to contact your bank, online retailer and/or the credit card company.
