Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa

On the Northern coast of Koh Samui Island, on the west side of Bophut Beach lays a small, charming and intimate Boutique Resort – Zazen Boutique Resort and Spa. Zazen is a place created with love. So much love has been put into the smallest details that make you feel so looked after, so cosy.

When arriving to Zazen we met with our wonderful host – Ms. Ame. Ame is Zazen`s reservation officer and a charming young lady with excellent English who told us a bit about the history of Zazen: Zazen was established 25 years ago by Mr. Wa Fathaveeporn, a Chinese fisherman who lived with his wife, Somboun Suksom, a local girl from Koh Smaui, in Zazen which back then served as a home to their family of 9 children. The children built a guest house as a place to welcome backpackers and nowadays Zazen is run by the youngest daughter, Ti and her husband Alex who have turned the place into a modern tasteful boutique resort.

Zazen Spa is a relatively small spa, not too many treatment rooms, no Jacuzzis nor saunas yet the service and the treatments don`t fall from top spa resort in Samui Island.

We were accompanied to the gift store/spa reception where we received explanations about our treatments and were taken to a shower room to wash and change our clothes to a white comfy Thai 2-piece massage outfit and a pair of Thai thongs. Our 2 Therapist came to collect us to the treatment rooms which were lying by a beautiful lotus pool in the middle of the Zazen Boutique garden.

The 120 minutes treatment combined Thai Massage with "herb packs". Half way through the thai massage, the therapist used a pre-heated cloth that was full of grounded herbs and tied in a way that was creating a soft ball with a fabulous aroma. As Heat promotes blood circulation and the transport of oxygen which can quickly dissolve muscular aches and p ains.  The herb pack was pressed against almost every part of the body in a very meticulous way, starting with the legs, arms, stomach, chest and every now and then the herbal bag was replaced with replaced with another heated one in order to maintain it`s heating affect.

After 2 hours of treatment by extremely professional hands the body felt reborn as if it has never experienced any form of stress before.
