Beauty Treatments for Healthy Hands

Beauty Treatments for Healthy HandsThere are many beauty treatments for the hands that can be done at home using ingredients you can acquire at the supermarket or drug store. Try one of these beauty treatments the next time your hands feel like they need a healthy and natural boost.

Lavender Hand Wash

Lavender helps relieve red, dry and inflamed hands. You can use this wash for hands that need gentle relief from redness and itching.

Simmer ½ cup of dried lavender flowers and ½ cup fresh chopped sage in 2 cups of water on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain and discard sage and lavender. Add 6 to 8 drops of lavender oil to the water, and apply by patting on hands with a washcloth. Repeat this application as necessary.

Apricot and Sugar Exfoliator

Apricot oil is good for the skin, and moisturizes as well as rejuvenates. The sugar and lemon in this treatment both act as exfoliators for clean soft hands free of dead cells.

Combine ½ cup of granulated sugar with a few tablespoons of apricot oil and the juice of ½ a lemon or lime. Rub the mixture on hands and rinse with warm water. Moisturize after you exfoliate.

Walnut Hand Scrub

Beneficial castor oil works with ground walnuts to enhance nail strength and exfoliate the skin while deeply moisturizing hands.

Chop ½ cup of shelled walnuts into a powder with a food processor or blender. Add one tablespoon of castor oil, one tablespoon of jojoba oil and one teaspoon of honey. Spread paste over hands and rub together vigorously. Rinse with warm water, and moisturize after patting your hands dry.

Avocado Hand Conditioner

This treatment moisturizes the hands while also gently exfoliating and cleansing.

Combine one ripe avocado with ¾ cup oatmeal, ¼ cup almond oil and ¼ cup olive oil in a food processor or blender. Drizzle in ¼ cup of water as the ingredients are mixing at low speed until the mixture becomes like a very thick lotion or cream. Massage the mixture into your hands in a circular motion, and rinse with cool water. Pat your hands dry.

Castor and Jojoba Nail Treatment

This treatment is meant to moisturize and condition the nails and cuticles.

Combine 2 tablespoons of castor oil, 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, two tablespoons of honey and the insides of 3 or 4 vitamin E capsules. Soak your nails in warm water for 10 minutes and pat dry, then massage the treatment into your nails concentrating on the cuticles.
