Body wraps have become a popular spa treatment in recent years. The purpose of a body wrap is to tone and tighten your skin while you detoxify your body and improve your circulation overall. While you can head to the spa for your body wrap treatment, it is much more economical and convenient to perform a body wrap in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Home body wraps can be done for about one-third of the price of salon treatments, and can be completed on your own time. Some women prefer to do a partial wrap over a specific problem area, which allows them to move freely about the home while the wrap is working. Others choose to do a full body wrap, which will take a bit longer, but will offer benefits to the entire body at one time.
Types of Home Body Wrap Treatments
There are many different types of home body wraps on the market today that you can choose from. Keep in mind that in order to reap the full benefits from your wrap treatment, you want to purchase one that is salon quality. While the materials for the body wraps can include herbal and mineral ingredients as well as aloe, the best type of body wrap to use is probably one that has a sea mud or clay base. With a sea mud body wrap, you smooth the mud onto your skin, and then wrap your body in warm cotton cloths. The sea mud will be the most effective ingredient to use in the absorption process, which is the first step in the wrap process. Once the liquid-based toxins are absorbed out of the body into the sea mud, the wrap will compact the spaces that were left by the eliminated fluids. The result can be a loss of inches, and a firmer skin tone overall.
In order to give yourself a home body wrap, it is best to begin with a warm shower that will open the pores in the skin to enhance the absorption process. As you are preparing for your body wrap treatment, avoid fatty foods and drinks that contain caffeine or alcohol. Opt instead for plenty of water both before and after the treatment, since this will aid the detoxification process. Find a place where you will not be disturbed for an hour or so, and make sure there is an area for you to lie down if you are opting for a full body wrap treatment. An inflatable mattress can work well for this purpose, or you can cover your bed with a waterproof cover. Mix the ingredients for your body wrap, and smear the substance over your skin, as though you were applying suntan lotion to your body. Wrap yourself in the moist, cotton cloths and relax for 30 minutes to an hour. Once the time is up, you can shower off and admire your freshly toned and newly firmed skin!
