Natural Foot Care

foot careOne area of the body that gets a lot of abuse, but oftentimes not enough attention is our feet. They take on a lot of stress during the day with commutes, uncomfortable shoes, and standing in long lines. There are many easy, natural treatments for common problems with the feet that can help alleviate symptoms fast. Even a soak of simple warm water and Epsom salts will help sooth and relax tired feet. For a special pampering session, treat the most neglected part of your anatomy with one of these easy remedies tonight!

 

Soothing Foot Bath

Mix 1/8 teaspoon of menthol crystals, 4 tablespoons of powdered alum, 8 tablespoons of boric acid, and 10 tablespoons of magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts). Use a teaspoon of this mixture in a gallon of hot water for a powerful and relaxing foot soak.

 

Hemlock Foot Refresher

The Hemlock Spruce is a North American evergreen tree whose bark is known to have medicinal properties. Putting powdered bark of Hemlock in your shoes can help to soothe tender feet, and can combat sweaty feet and foot odor.

 

Pumice & Cornmeal Foot Scrub

Cornmeal is a mild abrasive which effectively exfoliates rough, dry skin with the aid of a pumice stone. Mix ½ cup of dry cornmeal with 2 tablespoons of avocado oil. Spread on feet and rub skin with a pumice stone, concentrating on the most callused areas of your feet. Rinse with water and pat dry. This treatment will leave your feet feeling smooth.

 

Walnut Foot Treatment Bath

Use this decoction to treat sweaty feet. Boil 1 pound of dried English Walnut leaves in 1.5 quarts of water for 45 minutes. Use 1/3 to ½ of the mixture in a gallon of hot water. Soak feet.

 

Deodorant Green Clay Foot Mask

Green clay gently exfoliates while pulling impurities from the skin and restoring mineral content. Green clay is full of silica and magnesium, which are highly absorbent and make it s great foot deodorant.

Mix ½ cup of powdered green clay with ½ cup of water. Prepare a thick paste with the clay and the water. Coat feet with the paste and allow time to dry. Rinse off with warm, soapy water, and pat dry. Moisturize if necessary.

 

Willow  Foot Treatment Bath

Use this decoction to treat sweaty feet. Boil 1 pound of dried White Willow bark in 1.5 quarts of water for 45 minutes. Use 1/3 to ½ of the mixture in a gallon of hot water. Soak feet.
