10 Ways to Make Your Home Your Spa

Don’t have that extra $3,000 or $4,000 to jet off to some exotic location for a luxury spa vacation? Don’t worry! You can find some of the same benefits by creating your own home spa. For just a few dollars you can make a restful retreat in your own home. Sure, it won’t be quite the same as having masseuses working their magic on you, but you can get some of the benefits of pampering and rejuvenating by setting up a spa in your house.

Creating a spa doesn’t require building a special room or buying expensive equipment. You don’t have to block out hours of time. Your home spa experience can be as simple as a manicure or a pedicure. You don’t have to buy extravagant potions. Some of your treatments can be made from ingredients found in your own kitchen.

These ten tips can help you create the perfect atmosphere for a home spa experience:

Put together a “spa kit”. Go through your beauty supplies and make a list of the beauty treatments you already have. Build your spa package around one pleasing scent.

Read about treatments that you can do by yourself.

·    Purchase or make a salt or sugar scrub for skin exfoliation.

·    Choose special linens. Put aside a set of towels and a sheet that you can use exclusively for spa treatments.

·    Buy a scented candle for aromatherapy. Dim the lights. Inhale the fragrance which will help the relaxation process.

·    Select a special CD. Find one that has soft music you love. Choose something that isn’t too stimulating; the melody will help set the tone for your treatment.

·    Select a decorative pitcher to fill with water. Drinking fluids is an essential part of any spa treatment. Add a slice of a lemon or cucumber for that zesty fresh feeling.

·    Find a quiet room away from household activity. Turn off the television and the phone during your spa time. Your spa room should be perfectly quiet for ultimate relaxation.

·    Schedule a time for your spa treatment. Make arrangements to have at least one hour free of other responsibilities.

·    Prepare a warm, aromatic bath or shower. The soothing sensation of the warm water will begin the relaxation process.

You haven’t traveled hundreds of miles or had the hands of a professional massaging your body, but you should feel more at ease. Just an hour can make a world of difference.
