Can Facial Massage Aid In The Fight Against Premature Aging?

Facial MassageFacial massage isn`t the most common sought-after method for fighting the signs of premature aging, and is a relatively new anti-aging method in the Western society. Therefore, you may be surprised to learn that, according to its claims, facial massage may be a very effective form of anti-aging treatment, not to mention incredibly relaxing and enjoyable. In many European societies, facial massage is generally accepted as a routine treatment that most women view as one of the key ingredients in their overall routine in fighting the signs of premature aging. Although in recent years, both European and Chinese methods have stretched across borders and made their way into the Western anti-aging industry.

Western, European, Chinese, and Ayurveda Facial Massage

There are various methods of facial massage, although the newest form of which has originated in the West, Chinese, and Indian methods of facial massage have been used to stimulate a youthful glow for centuries and represent one of the oldest forms of massage and facial care. The Ayurveda method, thousands of years old in its use in preventing wrinkles, abides by the philosophy that creating a harmonizing balance between body and mind promotes external beauty. In addition to the benefits of the massage itself, the technique utilizes essential oils and herbs that are touted to promote a youthful appearance by promoting stress relief.

The Chinese and European methods of facial massage also seek to fight the signs of premature aging by opening the flow of energy to the skin and stimulating the muscles which hold skin in place. This, in turn, prevents facial sagging and is said to increase muscle tone and skin elasticity. There is much evidence that suggests that facial massage also reduces stress levels, which greatly aids in the appearance of a more youthful and radiant glow. No matter which method you choose, the benefits are said to include release of facial and neck tension, relaxation of facial and eye muscles, improvement of skin and muscle tone, overall relaxation, circulatory stimulation, and relief of water retention.

The Facial Massage Process

Facial massage may be administered in a salon by an esthetician, as well as by a certified massage therapist, although facial massage may be learned and self-administered by anyone seeking to reap it`s benefits. The patient will lie comfortably face-up and a towel may be draped over the shoulders. The skin is first cleansed and a light moisturizer or, as in the case of the Ayerveda method, an essential oil or herb may be applied. Techniques include using symmetrical circles, light-pressure strokes to relieve tension, application of pressure in the hollows of the eyes, circling of the cheek muscles, circling motions to relieve tension in the chin and neck, as well as the scalp. The moisturizer or oil is then removed a special lotion is usually applied to the skin. The facial massage may indeed be the most enjoyable anti-aging method on the market today!
