Since the weather is on the chillier side these days, why not treat your body to heated body products? This DIY at-home spa recipe doesn’t involve doing much of anything - simply take your favorite body lotion or moisturizer and place it on top of a heater or radiator and allow it to warm up for a few minutes (be sure to avoid heating up your product too much, since the heat may melt the container). After getting out of the shower or bath, you’ll be able to enjoy a heated moisturizer that will also help soothe any aches and pains you may be experiencing. Because the heat can liquefy your moisturizer, be careful when opening the container and test it on your skin first to avoid burning yourself.
Looking for a way to thoroughly exfoliate your entire body? Then you’ll enjoy this recipe for a sugar-filled body scrub. Simply mix the following ingredients into a bowl or container: one cup of olive oil, one cup of brown sugar, and one cup of raw oatmeal (unflavored). After mixing these ingredients together, it’s ready to be used on your skin. Apply using small, circular motions from head to toe. This should be done before stepping into the shower so you may want to lay out newspapers or paper towels in order to catch the granules that come off. Or you can stand in your tub or shower and after you’ve exfoliated your entire body, you can simply turn on the shower and rinse it off. Your skin will be softer and smoother all over.
To refresh your skin, all you’ll need is a few teaspoons of olive oil. After cleansing your face and neck, apply a few teaspoons of extra-virgin olive oil (100%) onto your face and neck and then apply your nighttime moisturizer. This combination will allow dry and cracked skin to heal naturally and stay hydrated throughout the night.
To create an easy DIY facial toner to clean out and tighten your pores, pour two cups of boiling water over a cup of closely packed rose petals. Cover with a lid and make sure all the rose petals are thoroughly soaked in the hot water. Wait until the water has cooled off naturally and then strain. Squeeze the liquid from the rose petals into another container and place in the fridge until you’re ready to use it. Rose petals contain a lot of great astringent properties, making it ideal for even sensitive skin types.
