Long Layover? Visit an Airport Spa!

Long Layover? Visit an Airport Spa!Whether you’re a frequent flyer or have only been on an airplane a handful of times, chances are you’ve had to experience a long layover. Sometimes ranging from a few minutes to a few hours, being stuck in an airport far away from home can seem like a crappy situation. However, more and more flyers are indulging in an airport spa to not only pass the time until their next flight but as a way to make their flying experience less stressful.

The idea of airport spas isn’t new but with the need for pampering increasing, more airports are starting to implement this concept into their facilities. Most airports tend to have a regular salon where people can get a quick haircut, manicure or pedicure on the go, but the allure of a full service spa is ideal for passengers with a lot of time on their hands. Instead of spending money on overpriced souvenirs, books or food, why not invest your dollars into something that will give you peace of mind and make the rest of your trip easier to deal with?

One important thing to note is that most airport spas are not very cheap. You may find one that is fairly affordable but in most cases, the more complex the services, the higher the price. This may vary upon what state or country you are in. Some airport spas only offer a limited number of services while others may have tons of options to choose from. Either way, it doesn’t hurt to walk into one and look over the menu to see if you can benefit from any of the services. Maybe you’ve got a bad back and need a quick massage to take away the stiffness. Or perhaps you’ll want to have a nice facial so that you arrive at your final destination looking rejuvenated and reenergized. Even for layovers that aren’t that long, airport spas have services that will get you to your gate on time. From 15 minutes to 45 minutes, you’ll be able to find a soothing way to pass the time.

You can enjoy a spa experience whether you’re traveling within the United States or halfway across the world. Not looking forward to a layover in Austin, Texas? The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has an airport spa that offers a series of soothing massages ranging anywhere from 10 minutes to a half hour. So if you need some tension released from your neck, back, shoulders, or arms then this airport will take care of you. Taking a trip to Canada? Then you’ll want to make a quick stop at the world’s first airport oxygen wellness spa, which can be found inside the Calgary International Airport. By using oxygen as a way to eliminate fatigue and enhance your focus, stamina and alertness, you’ll be in high spirits for the remainder of your trip. For an airport spa experience you’ll never forget, you’ll have to head to the Amsterdam Airport Schipol, which boasts not one but four different types of airport spas - its most impressive one is a lifestyle lounge that is decorated to look like a tropical rainforest. Also equipped with a restaurant and bar, you may be tempted to miss your flight!
