Mmm! Edible Spa Treatments

Tantalize the Body Instead of the Taste Buds

Mmm! Edible Spa TreatmentsIt’s easy to overdo the food and drink this time of year, but there is a way to enjoy the finest edible goodies without putting on a pound. A visit to your favorite spa may reveal a variety of spa treatments that will tantalize the body as well as the taste buds, leaving you refreshed, beautiful and oh, so satisfied! Treatments made of edible goodies have caught on around the globe, and now you can enjoy your favorite foods and spirits from head to toe.

Chocolate

Chocolate may satisfy the palate and lift the spirits – but it won’t do much for waistline. Unless you opt for a chocolate spa treatment, that is. There are very real properties in this decadent dessert that will keep your skin soft, smooth and even younger looking. For example, did you know that chocolate is loaded with antioxidants that are perfect for fighting the free radicals in our environment that can speed the aging process and even lead to some types of cancer? Cocoa can also soften, plump and firm your skin, which may explain why chocolate treatments have appeared on the menu of many top spas today.

Wine

You may have to limit the amount of vino you consume during the party season, but there is no limit to the amount of wine that you can use on your skin. Grape skins have gone into mud wraps, exfoliating treatments and pedicures. The grapes in wine are rich in antioxidants, which makes spa treatments using wine a great choice for skin firming and anti-aging as well. In wine country, such as Napa Valley, spa treatments are created with grape skins from regional vineyards, adding local charm to your spa experience.

Fruits and Veggies

Tropical treatments that use coconut, banana and other fruits from the beach are another popular choice in edible spa treatments today. Many fruits have properties that can moisturize, stimulate or cleanse the skin, and the antioxidants are abundant in these delicious choices as well. Pumpkin mixed with aromatic spices like nutmeg can also be used on your body to moisturize the skin and leave it soft and radiant. No matter which fruit or veggie treatment you choose, you will smell good, feel refreshed and look beautiful. What a way to get your five each day!

Maple Syrup

If you are looking for a sweet exfoliating treatment, look no further than the maple sugar body scrubs that are offered at many spas today. Cleansing the skin with these course sugar formulas will remove the top layer of dead, dry skin cells, leaving the skin underneath soft, smooth and radiant. And during the process, you can enjoy the aroma of maple that will make you crave pancakes straight from Vermont! No spa experience is sweeter than those containing maple sugar as a primary ingredient.

You may be looking at dropping a few pounds after the holiday festivities come to a close, but that doesn’t mean that your favorite indulgences have to go out the window entirely. Instead of heading to your refrigerator, make an appointment at the spa and pamper yourself with a yummy treatment using some of your favorite edible ingredients. Beauty never tasted so good!
