I was always fascinated by the Indian culture. To me, “Indian” means great food, great music and romantic movies… This week I discovered the ultimate Indian waxing experience - SHOBHA! For those women who have never had a Brazilian wax or those who just can’t seem to find the right salon - look no further!

I visited Sobha salon in Soho. It is one of two salons owned by Shobha, a young entrepreneur. Shobha got it right with her Indian inspired salon, a great relaxed atmosphere, colorful Indian decorations with an amazing staff that catered toward making the customer feel good.   I’m always nervous when I get a Brazilian and this time was no different, but the staff put me at ease. My specialist made sure I was comfortable by explaining everything that was going to be done. She was extremely detail oriented and made sure to ask me exactly what I wanted. The Shobha Salon uses a sugar gel which is a form of hair removal but is much less painful, it is made of natural ingredients (especially great for those with sensitive skin). It’s a warm gel that adheres to the hair and not the skin. Also for the few stray hairs left my specialist used Threading to remove them, which is less irritating to the skin. This Brazilian lasted much longer than others I have had done in the past. All of the employees are trained professionals who go through workshops and classes. I felt great after leaving Shobha. One small problem is that the ladies room is located outside the salon. It is a bit inconvenient, but not enough to impact the great experience.
