When searching for a good day spa you undoubtedly want the basics: affordable prices, experienced staff, and a clean environment. But just meeting those basic requirements doesn’t always mean you’ll get what you’re looking for. If you’re a stickler for good quality, then you will want to be as thorough as possible when making your selection. Customer experience is more important than ever, especially considering how much some day spas charge for their services. No one wants to pull money out of their wallet for a place that doesn’t cater to you. One of the first things you need to observe when you go to a day spa is whether or not you really get one-on-one treatment. These days many day spas are all about the money and quantity over quality. A big indicator that the day spa you’re going to may not be the best fit is if your esthetician makes it a habit to leave you during your treatment to attend another customer or customers. The whole point of going to the day spa is to be pampered by one person so if the person assigned to you is busy multitasking, you’re not getting your money’s worth. Having someone that seems to be too busy can result in a rush job. It’s even worse when your esthetician has to pass you off to another employee. If this has been your experience in the past, then you may want to look into going somewhere else.
To make sure you are the center of attention during your visit, learn to observe the atmosphere of the day spa you are interested in. Are there a ton of customers coming in and out? Does the staff look stressed or frustrated? Are any of them going back and forth between customers? Even though being busy means the day spa is doing good business that may not mean that you will get the individualized attention you want. A more tranquil environment with less foot traffic will mean a more intimate and relaxing experience for you.
Another important factor to look into is to find out if the day spa staffs its own employees or if they use independent contactors. You’ll want to go to a place where all of the employees work solely for that establishment. This means they all get trained the same way and follow store policies. Independent contractors get their training elsewhere and are not required to be managed, trained or supervised by the day spa that employs them. This can lead to bad results or a bad experience. Are you looking for a day spa that uses natural, organic products? Then you will need to investigate this as well. As to read the labels of their commonly used products and find out if the ingredients really are all natural or organic. Some day spas may claim to use all natural ingredients in their treatments and products when in reality they don’t.
