Believe it or not, not all spas are the same. If you’re researching the different types of spas for the first time, you may be surprised by the various options you’ll have to choose from. Only by knowing how each one operates will you be well informed enough to know which ones may be of interest to you and which ones you’ll probably want to skip.
Perhaps the most commonly known type of spa is the day spa. Regardless of whether you live in a large city or a small town, chances are there is a day spa of some kind in your area. The popularity of day spas has led to them popping up all over the place. This type of facility is the most basic in terms of service and is ideal for people that have never been to a spa before. The menu of services and treatments offered varies from location to location but in general most day spas offer full body massages, facials, pedicures, manicures, microdermabrasion and steam therapy.
Club spas are similar to day spas since they also offer basic spa services and body treatments but cater to those that are focused on fitness goals and staying in shape. By combining fitness with spa treatments, club spas have the ability to help their customers stay in top physical condition while pampering themselves from head to toe. Aside from taking part in exercise and other workout routines, club spas usually offer steam rooms, hydrotherapy, massage, facials and personal trainers.
Destination spas take the spa experience to an entirely different level by requiring their customers to travel to a special location in order to take part in their program. Most destination spas run for one week and involve not only pampering through massage and other common treatments, but teaching customers how to improve their lifestyle through healthy eating habits, physical fitness and overall health and wellness. Destination spas serve to influence their customers to take the practices they’ve learned and implement them into their lives after they’ve left the spa.
