The Sedu straightener is known as one of the best on the market and aren’t cheap. At $130 you are definitely paying for the top quality. Traditional flat irons and hair straighteners tend to tug and pull on the hair as you use it, which can cause breakage, not to mention frizzies. Sedu on the other hand, uses gemstone crystals in its plates, which allow for heat that creates an ultra smooth straightening effect without the tugging, minimizing breakage. Designed to give off a negative ionic charge during use also results in hair that is free of frizz but loaded with shine.
The best way to get hair that is made for a special hairdo, you’ll need to shampoo, condition, towel dry and apply a leave-in conditioner to prep your hair for straightening. Apply a good thermal styling spray, gel or serum to your hair to protect against frizz and the heat. Blow dry your hair using a round brush and follow up with your Sedu. Go over your hair with the Sedu, using 2-inch sections of hair at a time. Glide the plates starting from the roots to the ends. Now that your hair is sleek and straightened, your tresses will be ready for a great hairstyle.
To switch things up from the traditionally straight Sedu hairstyle, you can create soft curls by using your Sedu in a winding circular motion as you work the flat iron down each section of hair. Avoid keeping the flat iron in one place on your hair too long or else the curl won’t turn out right. You can also use your Sedu to flip the ends of your hair out or in. To flip out, simply wind the Sedu flat iron out and slightly up with a flick of your wrist when the Sedu gets to the ends. To flip your hair in, do the opposite movement as you wind the Sedu down your hair.
Want to spice up your straighter style? If you have layers, blow dry your hair until it’s as straight as you can get it. Use the Sedu to smooth out the longer layers and keep them stick-straight. For the shorter layers, use your Sedu to straighten them as usual but instead of gliding the straightener all the way past the tips, gently curl the ends in to create a “bump curl.” This will create volume and give your layers more life without going all out or adding too many curls. This style is ideal for layered bangs.
