Tips to Deal with a Bad Hair Day

Tips to Deal with a Bad Hair DayTo some, bad hair days could be as bad as or worse than excessive flatulence. We all have days where our combs don’t do us justice and our hair cannot be styled and profiled the way we’d like. Bad hair days are generally caused by poor hair management that includes things we can and cannot control, such as blow dryers, crash diets, dry weather, and more. Let’s discuss some of the causes of bad hair days and how to combat them.

For starters, blow dryers are the culprits to many bad hair days. Heated rollers, irons, and tongs have the same effect as well. They are known to cause damage to your hair by introducing dryness and breakage that is common with split ends. If you insist on using a blow dryer, turn down the heat to a low setting or air dry your hair with supplementary products that promote hair health. Using your blow dryer every day (regardless of setting) is always a bad idea.

In addition, bad hair days could be prevented by moisturizing it with a hair conditioner and limiting the amount of alcohol based products. Moisturizing your hair helps safeguard against dry and low humid weather, which causes static electricity to ravage your hair and render it upright. Remember, always make sure your hair is dry before leaving the indoors! Keeping it wet only contributes to additional frizziness.

Bad hair days are also spurred by traces of conditioner in the hair, which helps contribute to dull and uncontrollable hair. This is caused by poor rinsing during shower time. Make sure to rinse away conditioner for a few minutes, leaving your hair fresh. Plus, it is a smart idea to invest in a wide-tooth comb to add definition to your hair. Hairbrushes are known to damage hair even further with its coarse and rigid ends. Instead of using hairbrushes to separate curls, simply use your fingers.

Last but not least, another tip to avoid a bad hair day is to sleep on satin instead of cotton. Your hair easily flows against satin, whereas cotton promotes friction. Although satin might not be affordable or most practical at this point, the tips above are easy to do and takes little time. Remember, limit the use of your heated hair appliances, rinse conditioner off well, avoid hairbrushes, and always make sure your hair is dry prior to leaving the house to have the most manageable hair possible.
