Smart Blondes Stay Blonde

Smart Blondes Stay BlondeYou`ve made the decision to go blonde, and you look just great. You`ve discovered that blondes really do have more fun. Yet as summer approaches, you are wondering how you are going to stay blonde in between hair coloring treatments. Fortunately, there is good news. Nowadays, there are a variety of excellent products that will help you stay blonde throughout the summer. These products can be relied on to face combat against the most common "enemies" of blonde hair. But first, your mission, should you except, is to discover what these enemies are, and how to prevent them from doing damage to your golden tresses.

Blonde Enemy Number One: The Swimming Pool

We are sure that you have heard that the chlorine found in swimming pools can turn your blonde hair green. However, recent studies have discovered that it is actually the copper, not the chlorine that is responsible for making you look like Kermit the Frog. Should this happen, there are a variety of forms of "folk medicine" that can supposedly your green locks back into goldilocks. These include ketchup, baking soda, vinegar, Kool-Aid and a variety of rather odd concoctions such as aspirin and vinegar. Most of these fixes work on the principle that since copper is an oxidant, an anti-oxidant, such as the above-mentioned ingredients can alleviate the adverse effects. Do they work? We`re not sure, but we hope that you don`t have to find out. That`s why we are suggesting a bit of prevention. Your best defense, as unattractive as they are, is a bathing cap. However, if that is totally distasteful, wash you’re your prior to swimming, and apply a leave-in conditioner. Do not dry your hair. Apparently, the conditioner will protect your hair from the copper and the chlorine. After swimming, you will need to wash your hair again. Use one of the special shampoos for swimmers.

Blonde Enemy Number Two: The Sun

In their eternal quest for natural highlights, come summer, many brown-haired babes will soak up the sun. However, blonde beauties beware: The sun can dry up color treated hair and turn your golden locks into straw. Protect your tresses by wearing a light colored hat.

Blonde Enemy Number Three: Hair Grows Faster; Roots Show Faster

The fact that hair grows at a slightly faster rate in the summer is good news if you have been coveting longer hair. However, if you`ve recently colored your hair, the last you want is fats-showing roots. Fortunately, there are a few solutions. If your hair is long enough, you can cover it with a hair band, or pull it back into a ponytail. There are also a number of new products on the market that are designed specifically for root touch-ups. They are simple to use, and do a surprisingly good at matching your color. When all else fails, consider using a hair mascara.

Blonde Enemy Number Four: Color Fading

These days, nobody should worry about blonde hair color fade. There are a number of excellent shampoos and conditioners for blondes, as well as some color glazes that enhance color and add incredible shine. If you like to take a more natural approach to staying blonde, consider using a chamomile shampoo and conditioner.
