Braids: The Timeless and Classic Hair Style

Braids: The Timeless and Classic Hair StyleBraiding has been around since the beginning of hair itself. Although it`s appearance comes and goes, you can never go wrong with a braid. Braid`s are like blue jeans, no matter what other styles come along, it will always be a great look. Braiding has existed for centuries in cultures around the world. The popularity and timelessness of braiding has held steadfast through the ever-changing trends of the decades.

Why does braiding have such a loyal following? Well, in modern days it`s popularity can be attributed to a few qualities. A braid is a great style for more than just the braid itself. Say you`ve decided to let your longtime short style grow out and go for a longer look. Braids are a great way to make hair look classy and clean during this transition. They`re also great for covering up a styling idea gone wrong until you decide upon a new plan of action. More simply, braids are great for when your busy and don`t have time to lather or condition, or are just plain lazy. Don`t have time for the whole styling process this morning? After a little practice, braids are a quick and easy fix for covering up bedhead.

The Classic Braid

One of the great things about braiding is that it looks a lot more complicated than it really is. Braids are so fancy looking they can be intimidating. Though most of us know the classic braid as second nature, the braid has produced some pretty fancy variations over the years. The classic braid is a basic separation of the hair into equal amounts and alternating neat and tight layers pulled over each other. There are great guides available online for learning the basic braid and we recommend you start here before moving on to some of the fancier braids. You can order a braiding book online for next to nothing and find some free tips as well through any search engine.

Getting A Little Fancier

There`s all sorts or pretty variations on the classic braids that do get a little more complicated to learn - but they are well worth the effort. From pretty fishtails, to French braids and dual braids, it`s a good idea to find someone who`s willing to let you practice with their hair before trying your hand at yours and wearing it as a style. Remember, practice makes perfect and no one gets these beautiful braids right the first time. There are great ideas online and new braid ideas coming out on a continual basis.

Dressing It Up

After you`ve done completed your schooling and are ready to sport some new styles, consider dressing up your braids. Braids look great with any hair accessory and give you an opportunity to wear some dressings that have caught your eye. Consider flowers, barrettes, jewels, and even tiara`s for more special occasions.

Happy braiding!
