Get a Great Bikini Line

Get a Great Bikini LineIt’s no secret that many of us gear up for bathing suit weather by trying to lose a few pounds or smearing on the sunless tanner. A much less talked-about bathing suit preparation is getting the bikini line ready to go. There are a number of options in hair removal for that hair “down there.” It is infinitely helpful to find the easiest and most comfortable approach for you.

Creams and gels are one of the least expensive and easiest solutions on the market today. You can find a number of products designed specifically for the bikini line, and some are geared for sensitive skin. (And whose skin isn’t sensitive in this area?) With a cream hair remover, you simply apply to the skin, leave it on for anywhere from four to ten minutes, and then wash off. As long as your skin can take the chemicals, you’ve got a great bikini line with minimal cost, effort and mess.

Another low-cost option in hair removal is shaving, and this is a popular choice for many women as well. If you decide to go the razor route, make sure that you use a new razor that is nice and sharp to avoid nicks and razor burn. There are also some razors on the market that are specifically made to shave this part of the body. Apply a generous amount of a thick shaving cream or gel to the area, and allow it to set for a few minutes to help soften the hair. Begin by shaving with the grain of the hair, rinse, lather and repeat the process against the grain. You can follow up this procedure with an application of aloe gel or a hydrocortisone cream to avoid pimples or irritation after the fact.

Waxing is a much used, albeit painful, choice in hair removal for the bikini line as well. If you are shy, you can opt for a home waxing kit, but be prepared to give yourself an “ouch” when that wax comes off! You can also have a waxing done at a salon or spa by someone trained to do this process best. The good news is that the first time is the most painful, since once the follicles are damaged in the initial process the hair will come out more readily. Follow up a waxing the same way you do a shaving, with a cream or ointment that will soothe the skin and help prevent breakouts or irritation.

For a more permanent solution to the bikini line problem, you can go for electrolysis or laser treatments. These are generally done in a clinical setting, and often only need to be performed once. Electrolysis runs anywhere from $25 to $100. It can take as long as eight hours of electrolysis to get the bikini line you want. The cost for a laser treatment will run you about $300 to $500, and will be completed in anywhere from one to a few sessions, depending on the amount of hair that you want removed.

A great bikini line is just a part of the summer fashion scene. The good news is that there are plenty of options in hair removal that will ensure that your body is ready for bathing suit weather.
