There are a number of products on the market today that claim to effectively replace lost hair and help grow new strands for a natural look. Whether such products really do work to regrow hair is up for debate. In addition to miracle hair products is it possible to regrow hair naturally?

 

It is important to recognize the fact that men and women deal with hair issues differently. Unfortunately for men, the majority of their hair loss problems cannot be solved naturally. Thanks to genetics the hair you have as a man cannot be readily manipulated in order to give you a fuller head of hair—even by pursuing natural methods. However, women experiencing hair loss may have a few options available to them. But such results do vary from case to case and, like men, genetics also play a role.

 

When it comes to women, hair loss can occur for a number of reasons that you may not be aware of. This includes maintaining a poor diet, not getting enough iron and trauma. Of these three, having poor iron levels are among the most detrimental when it comes to hair loss. When a woman loses iron either through her menstrual cycles every month or by not getting enough iron from natural food sources, the body actually halts hair production until the iron levels are back up to par. In fact, medical studies have shown that women in particular regularly experience mild to severe iron-deficiency anemia.

 

So what does this mean for you and your hair loss? If you want to maintain a head full of thick and healthy locks, you’ll have to get your iron levels back up. One way to achieve this is by boosting your daily iron intake. The recommended dosage is 18 milligrams. However, it is important to not take too much iron since this can be toxic. The best way to use this method is under doctor supervision and only if your particular hair loss is in fact being caused by an iron deficiency. In addition to getting enough iron it is also vital to get the right levels of vitamin C because it helps the body absorb the iron easier. For women that do not necessarily have a severe iron deficiency, taking regular multivitamins will be more than enough to keep your levels up to par.

 

Another way for women to keep their hair through natural methods is to eat the right kinds of foods and prevent crash diets. Poor eating habits and yo-yo dieting may allow you to shed pounds in a short amount of time (albeit unhealthily), but it also serves to destroy your body’s hair production. It isn’t uncommon for someone on a crash diet to experience hair loss not only on their head but their entire body. Instead, lose weight gradually and your tresses won’t be in jeopardy. Drink plenty of orange juice and add more lean red meat and broccoli to your daily diet.
